Goodyear Welt Shoes
Goodyear Welt Construction is invented by the American Charles Goodyear Jr and has been mastered for over 100 years by the craftsmen and women at the factory in Northampton, England. Goodyear Welted construction gets its strength, durability and repair qualities by stitching the upper leather, lining leather and welt to the ribbing that has already been bonded to the insole. The welt is then stitched to the leather or rubber sole. It is this final stitch, holding the sole in place, which we can cut through enabling complete removal of the sole without causing damaging the upper.
MOCCASIN - DIP DYE
The Dip Dye is a process that gives the shoe a rich intensive colour whilst enhancing the natural softness of the leather. This special process created traditionally made shoes which offer a look and feel unique to Nico Nerini shoes. The uppers are made from uncoloured leathers. They are immersed in dyes and tumbled in large wooden drums, this dyes through the upper leather, lining and the sticking giving the shoe a deep rich tone not attainable with a normal process. After tumbling the uppers are naturally dried in the air and the final softened back in the shoe factory. The uppers are prepared and the soles attached still in their natural colour, finally the soles are hand painted with the same dye until a depth of colour matching the upper has achieved.
